The Government’s boiler scrappage scheme had finally been given the official go ahead. Thousands of homeowners will receive £400 for trading in any inefficient G-rated boiler for an energy efficient A rated boiler - helping them reduce their impact on the environment and reducing their fuel bills.
Plus, as an extra bonus, we’ll give an extra year’s free warranty to anyone choosing a new Glow-worm boiler under the scheme.
If you can’t find yours on either list but you think it’s G-rated, call the Energy Saving Trust to double check by dialling 0800 512 012.
All Glow-worm boilers are ultra efficient and could save you hundreds of pounds a year in fuel bills and greatly reduce your impact on the environment and global warming. Plus, if you take part in the boiler scrappage scheme, we’ll give you an extra 1 year’s free warranty on top of the £400 you’ll receive from the Government.
When you’re sure you have a G-rated boiler, the next step is to obtain a quote from a Gas Safe registered installer - you can find a Glow-worm approved installer in your area here.
You’ll need your installer information when you register for you voucher online at the Energy Saving Trust website or call the ACT ON CO2 advice line on 0800 512 012.
You’ll be asked for these details when you register for the boiler scrappage scheme:
It’s important that you wait until you have received your voucher before any work starts.
When installation is complete simply claim £400 back by sending your voucher and invoice to the Energy Saving Trust. Payment will be issued within 25 days of receiving the invoice and voucher.
Vouchers can be redeemed against boilers which are A-rated or equivalent gas, oil or LPG boilers, Micro CHP units or Microgeneration Certification Scheme-registered boimass boilers and heat pumps. Solar Thermal is also eligible if combined with an eligible boiler replacement. Electric boilers are not eligible.
To protect against fraud, the Energy Saving Trust says all submitted vouchers must contain the customer’s and the installer’s signature, as well as the Gas Safe/MCS registration number of the installer.

All new Glow-worm boilers are now A or B-rated. The diagram above shows the different energy efficiencies allocated by SEDBUK.
