The scrappage scheme continues in Scotland and Wales
The boiler scrappage scheme in England has proven such a success that all 125,000 £400 vouchers have now been issued to people replacing their old G-rated boilers for new highly efficient models.
But while it's finished in England, the scrappage scheme is only just getting started in Wales and Scotland - see below how much cash back you could receive when you scrap your old boiler.

£500 cash back for Welsh over 60s
This scheme is available to 5,000 Welsh residents aged 60 and over with an inefficient G-rated boiler. Successful applicants receive a £500 voucher towards the cost of replacing their old G-rated unit with an A-rated energy efficient boiler.
Applicants can apply for their Welsh boiler scrappage scheme voucher on 0800 316 2816 or at www.heeswales.co.uk. The £500 voucher is to be presented to the appointed registered installer who installs the new boiler.
Note: only installers registered on the scheme can be used to install the appliance.

£400 cash back for all Scottish homeowners
Up to 5,000 eligible Scottish homeowners will receive a £400 voucher towards the cost of replacing their old G-rated unit with an A-rated energy efficient boiler.
The Scottish boiler scrappage scheme is to be operated through the Energy Saving Scotland advice network, which will issue the £400 vouchers. Visit www.energysavingtrust.org.uk or call 0800 512 012 for all the details on how to register.
How the boiler scrappage scheme works
When you're sure you have a G-rated boiler, the next step is to obtain a quote from a Gas Safe registered installer - you can find a Glow-worm approved installer in your area here.
Registration details
You'll be asked for these details when you register for the boiler scrappage scheme:
- Your full name
- The address of the property you wish to claim the voucher for
- The make and name of the boiler being scrapped
- The company name, address and contact details of the installer carrying out the work
- The type of replacement boiler to be installed, e.g. gas, heat pump, biomass
- Confirmation that you have received a quote or visit from the installer to carry out the work
It's important that you wait until you have received your voucher before any work starts.
When installation is complete simply claim your cash back by sending your voucher and invoice to the Energy Saving Trust. Payment will be issued within 25 days of receiving the invoice and voucher.
Vouchers can be redeemed against boilers which are A-rated or equivalent gas, oil or LPG boilers, Micro CHP units or Microgeneration Certification Scheme-registered biomass boilers and heat pumps. Solar Thermal is also eligible if combined with an eligible boiler replacement. Electric boilers are not eligible.
To protect against fraud, the Energy Saving Trust says all submitted vouchers must contain the customer's and the installer's signature, as well as the Gas Safe/MCS registration number of the installer.
